APFAMGS project funded by Food & Agriculture Organization (FAO) of United Nations is working along with NGO’s for promoting people managed groundwater systems. APFAMGS is involved in providing farmers with technical skills and knowledge to manage the groundwater resources optimally for ensuring its sustainability. The project currently is being implemented in 7 drought prone districts of Andhra Pradesh spread over 700 habitations. APFAMGS was initiated in 2004 and will be completed in 2008. To advise and guide the project activities from time to time the project is constituting a steering committee. The steering committee would comprise of members with sufficient experience in the different disciplines of interest to the project. The Steering committee will meet twice a year for reviewing the progress in the project implementation as well to plan ahead. The steering committee members will be furnished with all the relevant documents in advance before attending the meetings. The steering committee members are eligible to receive a sitting allowance as well as travel allowance wherever applicable.
