Global Map of Irrigation Areas
Bhutan
The irrigated area is reported to be 38 733.6 ha [BT01]. The figures were published in 1995 and originate from the classification of satellite imagery (base year 1989–90) and groundtruthing carried out in 1993–94 [BT02]. Irrigated areas are reported for 20 dzongkhags.
The irrigated areas were digitized from a land use atlas with a scale of 1 : 250 000 [BT03].
The distribution of irrigated area by sub-national unit is listed in the table below.
