Global Map of Irrigation Areas
Dominican Republic
The total area equiped for irrigation in the Dominican Republic equals 269 710 ha [DO01]. The figures per province originate from the AQUASTAT-library and refer to 1994. The irrigated area per province adds up to 253 997 ha and was scaled to meet the AQUASTAT country value for 1999. Most of the irrigated areas are located in the western part of the country, [DO02],[DO03].
The distribution of irrigated area by sub-national units is listed in the table below.
