Global Map of Irrigation Areas

El Salvador

For El Salvador no information could be found on the area equipped for irrigation on the sub-national level. According to AQUASTAT there are 44 993 ha equipped for irrigation in the entire country [SV01]. The figure refers to 1997. The distribution of irrigated areas within the country is mainly based on a World Bank study on private irrigation from the year 1993 [SV02]. Additional information comes from a government register of irrigation water user associations [SV03].
