WUA Legislation or Legislative Framework Briefings
The FAO Water Unit jointly with the Development Law Service are conducting a worldwide inventory on the legal and regulatory framework supporting Water Users Associations. It includes a summary analysis of readily available primary and secondary legislation governing the establishment, internal structure, functions and powers, funding, dissolution, and Government control of the associations. In a few cases, in addition to the WUA study, the legal and regulatory framework supporting Irrigation Management Transfer have been documented. They focus on legislation governing the transfer of functions and powers from the Government to the user associations.
