Helping people to eat a healthier diet and preventing different forms of malnutrition, merit science-based, clear guidance on foods, food groups and healthy dietary patterns. Due to this need, FAO provides several capacity development opportunities to countries, including training workshops and consultation meetings. 

Currently, FAO is leading a series of regional workshops to encourage and assist Member Countries in developing their own food-based dietary guidelines and implementing them across multiple sectors and levels, including health and agricultural policies and nutrition education programs.
