CSDI End-of-Project Stocktaking Exercise

Final Report

This document is the result of a participatory end-of-project stocktaking exercise carried out by the project GCP/INT/048/ITA Communication for Sustainable Development Initiative (CSDI), with the active involvement of project staff, partners and stakeholders at the global, country and local level. It draws on the overview of main stocktaking findings, enriched by updated data, insights from workshop discussions and additional information collected in 2012.

Lo Que La Tierra Nos Da

The Government of Bolivia, the Italian Development Cooperation, and FAO have joined efforts to create this photo book. The book documents and shares Bolivia’s rich diversity of biological systems and genetic resources, and their strong relationship with the rural people. The book is part of a broader effort to promote the conservation and use of agro-biological diversity for long-term food sustainability.

The Role of Information and Communication Technologies for Community-Based Adaptation to Climate Change

Climate change is one of the most complex challenges that humankind has to face in the next decades. As the change process seems to be irreversible, it became urgent to develop sound adaptation processes to the current and future shifts in the climate system. It is crucial to identify information and communication systems that the farmers need in order to cope with the new conditions. This paper aims to address the concerns farmers face and examine the ICTs that can provide assistance in adapting to climate change.

Comunicación para la Innovación yel Desarrollo Rural en el ANMI-PNA del Municipio Yapacaní

El Plan Nacional de Comunicación para el Desarrollo de Bolivia nació el año 2007 como una iniciativa conjunta del Ministerio de Desarrollo Rural y Tierras del Estado Plurinacional de Bolivia (MDRyT) y la Organización de las Naciones Unidas para la Alimentación y la Agricultura (FAO), a través del proyecto Iniciativa de Comunicación para el Desarrollo Sostenible (ICDS). El objetivo del Plan Nacional de Comunicación para el Desarrollo (CpD) es implementar estrategias y servicios de comunicación para la adaptación al cambio climático y la innovación agropecuaria y forestal, así como fortalecer las capacidades nacionales en el ámbito de la CpD.

Indigenous Peoples' Communication for Development - Collaborative efforts towards self-determined sustainable development

FAO and other UN agencies recognize that communication is fundamental to promote sustainable develoent. Within this framework Coomunication for Development (ComDev), a participatory communication approach that combines a variety of processes and tools ranging from rural radio to Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs), can contribute to IPs' developmet by: (i) facilitating equitable access to knowledge and information; (ii) promoting dialogue and IPs' partcipation and; (iii) enhancing IPs' capacity to manage communication processes for self-determined development.
