Community radio is radio run by and for communities in local languages, often with programming focused on issues at the heart of local development, such as climate change and environmental degradation. Stories about climate and environmental change appear in documentaries, interactive talk shows and drama and music, helping communities to learn more about these impacts and share their experiences of responding to them. Meeting today's agriculture and rural development challenges

The comprehensive final report of the FAO Expert Consultation (14-16 September 2011, Rome) outlines the process leading to the event, presents the methodology used to inspire dialogue and provides highlights from the three days of discussion. The experts concurred that FAO should take a leading role for mainstreaming ComDev in the rural development agenda and devised recommendations.

The Government of Bolivia, the Italian Development Cooperation, and FAO have joined efforts to create this photo book. The book documents and shares Bolivia’s rich diversity of biological systems and genetic resources, and their strong relationship with the rural people. The book is part of a broader effort to promote the conservation and use of agro-biological diversity for long-term food sustainability.

Climate change is one of the most complex challenges that humankind has to face in the next decades. As the change process seems to be irreversible, it became urgent to develop sound adaptation processes to the current and future shifts in the climate system. It is crucial to identify information and communication systems that the farmers need in order to cope with the new conditions. This paper aims to address the concerns farmers face and examine the ICTs that can provide assistance in adapting to climate change.

El Plan Nacional de Comunicación para el Desarrollo de Bolivia nació el año 2007 como una iniciativa conjunta del Ministerio de Desarrollo Rural y Tierras del Estado Plurinacional de Bolivia (MDRyT) y la Organización de las Naciones Unidas para la Alimentación y la Agricultura (FAO), a través del proyecto Iniciativa de Comunicación para el Desarrollo Sostenible (ICDS). El objetivo del Plan Nacional de Comunicación para el Desarrollo (CpD) es implementar estrategias y servicios de comunicación para la adaptación al cambio climático y la innovación agropecuaria y forestal, así como fortalecer las capacidades nacionales en el ámbito de la CpD.

The main objective of this booklet is to provide an overview of current initiatives and projects focusing on Communication for Development applied to natural resources management and agriculture in the region, assess the main challenges, and identify links and opportunities to strengthen their collaboration and further advance Communication for Development in the Near East region.
