Bio-Dynamic Association of India (BDAI)

The primary objective of the BDAI is to promote and coordinate the bio-dynamic movement in India. Other objectives are: to provide training on bio-dynamic agriculture, to link up with the international bio-dynamic movement, and to promote and support the trade and commerce connected with bio-dynamic agriculture in India.

Africa Rice Center (AfricaRice)

AfricaRice is a CGIAR Centre with African member states.  Its mission is to contribute to poverty alleviation and food security in Africa through the rice sector.  AfricaRice’s research focuses on overcoming the major shortfalls of rice production in Africa including low productivity and sustainability of rice, poor quality of the product, and an unfavourable market and policy environment.

Agricultura Urbana Participativa (AGRUPAR)

AGRUPAR is part of a government program that was funded to explore how municipal governments could support urban agriculture.  The program now provides demonstrations of organic community gardens and micro-enterprise training for the production, marketing, and processing of food.  This training involves neighbourhood groups, schools, disabled people, and the elderly.  The website is only available in Spanish.

The Agricultural Experimental Farm in Taiwan consists of 18 hectares of organic production, including a horticultural plot for teaching, extension and research.  Information about specific research projects is not available on the University webpage.

Agricultural Research Corporation (ARC)

ARC is part of the Sudanese Ministry of Science and Technology.  The Corporation’s mission is to plan, develop and implement research designed to produce technologies and systems that are required to ensure sustainable crop productivity, food security, and export capacity.  The Land and Water Research Program in ARC aims to compact desert creep, erosion, and loss of fertility through the development of suitable technologies such as land preparation, irrigation, and fertilizer use.  The Desertification and Arid Land Research Program aims to establish a model for combating desertification and facilitating increased utilization of degraded lands to prevent rural to urban migration.  The Range and Pasture Research Program aims to conserve rangelands by improving feed for the national herd, reducing overgrazing, and conserving national resources.

Agricultural Research Organization (ARO)

The Agricultural Research Organization (ARO), the research arm of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, is responsible for most of the agricultural research conducted in Israel. This research aims to improve existing agricultural production systems and to introduce new products, processes and equipment, thereby ensuring the basis of Israel's future agriculture. Specific projects undertaken by the different Departments of ARO focus on organic agriculture themes (e.g. Crop nutrition and plant protection for organic agriculture, grazing in organic agro-ecosystems; pest management in organic farming).

Agricultural Research and Extension Unit (AREU)

AREU, a body of the Government of the Republic of Mauritius regularly conducts collaborative research in organic agriculture.  On-going projects include studies on the effects of leguminous crop cover and organic soil amendments on soil fertility, the effects of biofertilizers on yield and the efficacy of biopesticides and microbial pesticides.

Agriculture Department, Government of Punjab (Agri Punjab)

Agri Punjab is the State Department concerned with agricultural research and extension.  The Department’s Ayub Agricultural Research Institute is the primary research centre.  Research directorates at the Institute cover the following areas: agronomy, plant protection, horticulture, post harvest, cotton, oil seeds, pulses, sugarcane, vegetables, wheat, arid areas, maize and millets, rice, fodder, and soil science.  A special campaign was started to research methods of increasing crop production within a period of two years.

Agriculture Research Group on Sustainability (ARGOS)

ARGOS is a joint collaboration between the Agribusiness Group, Lincoln University, and the University of Otago.  The Group’s mandate is to examine the environmental, social and economic sustainability of New Zealand farming systems.  Specifically ARGOS is comparing the effects of livestock grown under conventional, integrated and organic management; conventional orchards versus organic orchards; and dairies converting to organic versus conventional dairies.
