Institut Technique de L’Agriculture Biologique (ITAB)

ITAB aims to produce tools and other technical references that can be used to build innovative and sustainable systems for organic farming. The Institute also plays a facilitation role by bringing together national and international actors in research, training and development.  In the past ITAB has conducted research on the control of production of wheat farming and milling processes to yield a flour product with high nutritional density. The website is only available in French.

Institute of Organic Agriculture, University of Bonn

This Institute aims to develop methods for optimising ecological agriculture and support sustainable development. It seeks to integrate basic and applied research linked to the needs of farmers. Its research focuses on plant production, environmental impact assessment, product quality, and animal husbandry. The Institute has very close international research partnerships with ISOFAR and other research bodies.

International Centre for Research in Organic Food Systems (ICROFS)

ICROFS is a collaboration between research groups in different institutions and universities and coordinated through a head office in Denmark. The secretariat of ICROFS initiates, coordinates, and participates in international research activities. The aim of their work is to strengthen the positions of organic farming and food systems and to increase the conversion possibilities from conventional farming production. ICROFS plays a central role in a large number of research endeavours, including the DARCOF III, CORE Organic, CERTCOST and GlobalOrg projects. ICROFS also manages Organic Eprints, an open, online archive for research in organic agriculture with more that 8,000 publications.

International Organic Food, Quality and Health Research Association (FQH)

FQH aims to establish a network of research institutions that specialize in the relationship between organic food and human health. Involved research institutions prioritise topics and projects that can be implemented through collective effort. In addition to developing a common research agenda, FQH produces a free newsletter and coordinates member workshops and meetings. The coordinator and secretariat are housed at the Agro Eco Louis Bolk Institute in the Netherlands.

Organic Food and Farming Division, Bioforsk - Norwegian Institute for Agricultural and Environmental Research

Bioforsk is a national research and development branch of the Norwegian Ministry of Agriculture and Food.  The Organic Food and Farming Division of the branch plays the leading role in research and development of organic agriculture in Norway, especially around market development.  Projects include the Innovative Public Food Procurement for Youth project that examines organic and conventional food procurement, a study on quality analysis of critical control points within the whole food chain and their impact on food quality, and a study on organic milk quality.

Participatory Ecological Land Use Management (PELUM) Association

PELUM Association is a network of 207 civil society organisations in Eastern, Central and Southern Africa, working towards poverty eradication, food security, and sustainable community development. PELUM’s work focuses on increasing and enhancing the members’ capacities in promoting improvements in the farmers’ livelihoods through sustainable agriculture, seed and food security. In order to attain the objectives above, PELUM Association facilitates learning and networking, participatory research, capacity building information sifting and dissemination as well as lobbying and advocacy.
