First e-Learning Course in Urdu launched by FAO in Pakistan

The Pakistan Dietary Guidelines for Better Nutrition (PDGN) e-Learning Course is now freely available in Urdu from the FAO Representation in Pakistan.

The PDGN were prepared jointly by the Government of Pakistan Planning Commission Nutrition Section and the FAO In Pakistan. The PDGN provide comprehensive Pakistan-specific guidelines for adopting healthy eating practices to prevent and reduce malnutrition, nutritional deficiencies and chronic diseases.

The PDGN e-Learning course, launched originally in English, is now also freely available in Urdu. Both language versions of the course are identical in content and features, such as interactivity and exercises.The Urdu version will attract Learners who feel more comfortable taking courses in their mother tongue and those who, in turn, will teach or raise awareness of the Dietary Guidelines using the correct terminology in Urdu.

The e-Learning course presents the basic concepts of daily nutrition and healthy eating in Pakistan. It is divided into four Topics and includes interactive features to keep the Learner engaged. After successfully completing an assessment at the end of the course, a certificate of completion will be generated in the Learner’s name.

FAO in Pakistan is currently working to bring you the second e-Learning course on Food Safety expected by December 2020.
