Partners

  • Department of Agriculture and Livestock (DAL) 
    The Department of Agriculture and Livestock is the lead government agency responsible for the management and development of the PNG agriculture with a primary mandate in policy advice and technical and administrative support to the entire sector. As the country focal point for FAO, DAL is a partner in all agriculture related collaborations and projects supported or led by FAO in PNG such as food security, e-agriculture, agriculture statistics, and gender assessment. 
  • National Forest Authority
    The Papua New Guinea National Forest Authority is the government agency responsible for the regulation, management and sustainable development of Papua New Guinea’s forest resources. The authority is the major partner in forestry projects and collaborations that FAO supports in Papua New Guinea, such as the national forestry inventory.  
  • National Fisheries Authority 
    The National Fisheries Authority is the government authority responsible for the regulation and development of the PNG fisheries sector. The National Fisheries Authority is a major partner in fisheries projects that FAO supports.  
  • Climate Change and Development Authority (CCDA)
    CCDA is another government agency tasked to ensure PNG follows a path of climate-compatible growth; that the country’s economy develops while simultaneously mitigating greenhouse gas emissions and reducing vulnerability to climate change related risks. CCDA is a major partner of FAO in the areas of climate change and emission reduction from deforestation and forest degradation.  
  • National Information Communication Technology Authority (NICTA)
    NICTA is a government agency responsible for the regulation and licensing of Information Communication Technology (ICT) in PNG. NICTA aims at contributing meaningfully to the long-term economic and social development of PNG. It partners with FAO, ITU, DAL and other stakeholders under the PNG E-Agriculture project.  
  • National Statistics Office
    The National Statistical Office (NSO) is responsible for collecting, compiling and disseminating official statistical information on a regular and timely basis. It has a commitment that includes collaboration with other state agencies to improve and enhance capacities for delivering the required information for planning and monitoring purposes. The agriculture statistics project is a partnership between NSO and FAO.  
  • RIMES
    RIMES stands for the Regional Integrated Multi-Hazard Early Warning System for Africa and Asia. Under the PNG E-agriculture project, RIMES collaborates with the National Weather Service and FAO for advisory services in agromet services and alert systems.
