Sustainable Livelihoods Programmes, Projects and Initiatives in FAO

Each technical Department works to improve the living conditions of the rural poor, and therefore has valuable information to offer. Most of the technical Divisions in FAO work in one way or the other to improve the livelihood opportunities of the rural poor and to reduce their livelihoods' vulnerability.

It is neither our intention nor is it feasible to provide you with an inclusive list of all programmes, project and activities of FAO which promote applying sustainable livelihoods perspectives. We have therefore pre-selected a number of programmes, projects and activities of different FAO Departments to give you an idea of the work FAO is doing in this area.
