Abstract: This newsletter documents FAO Dimitra Project and its partners’ recent work and achievements in various countries. An interesting article is dedicated to “Communication through participation: a new approach for effective action”, based on the activities implemented in the Democratic Republic of Congo. Information on “WOUGNET: enhancing access to information by rural women” is also provided, describing WOUGNET’s activities in addressing the need to enhance access to information by rural women in Uganda. The case of WINET is also documented: it has successfully used the radio for the dissemination of information on reproductive rights issues in Nigeria, by developing a specialised radio programme and by supporting the creation of radio listeners’ clubs in Enugu State. Finally an article describes the implementation of the FXB Village model, a community-based programme which operates to help families and communities respond to poverty, HIV/AIDS and the rising number of vulnerable children.
