Rome - The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and the Strategic Alliance of Catholic Research Universities (SACRU) have signed a bilateral collaboration agreement to address the planet's food and health inequalities. The signing of the "letter of intent" (LoI) took place at the event "Enhancing resilience of food systems to promote food security," sponsored by the two institutions on Thursday, Oct. 27, at FAO headquarters in Rome.

On 14 October 2022 the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and Mississippi State University (MSU) have signed a new Memorandum of Understanding to strengthen innovative use of science, data and technology to advance the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The FAO and MSU have a long-standing partnership, which began in 2010 and has been contributing to innovative aquaculture management for over a decade. Agriculture and rural development are critical for ensuring food security and eradicating poverty. In this context, farmers’ livelihoods largely depend on agricultural activities, making them highly vulnerable to current challenges affecting agriculture, including climate change and loss of biodiversity. Enhancing the capacities of farmers to adopt innovative approaches to boost agricultural productivity and cope with limited resources is essential to meeting the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG1 on eradicating extreme poverty and SDG2 on ending hunger and promoting sustainable agriculture.  

The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and the University of Freiburg (ALU-FR) have renewed their Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), through 2025, to continue to collaborate on areas of common interest focusing on strengthening sustainable forestry, natural resources management and rural development in Central Asia.
