Name of the institution: The University of the Western Cape
Description: FAO and the University of Western Cape joined forces in 2018 to strengthen knowledge and implement capacity development activities in the field of marine sciences, and facilitate trainings and academic activities in support of the application of the ecosystem approach in the management of marine fisheries promoted by the EAF-Nansen Programme. The support to M.Sc. and PhD marine science students is a priority for this partnership. Activities are funded by the South Africa’s National Research Foundation while the FAO offers technical expertise to students.

Description: The Universidad Politécnica de Madrid and FAO started its partnership in 2016 to promote food security and nutrition through the sustainable management of natural resources and mitigation of climate change. The cooperation includes support to programmes such as climate-smart agriculture and disaster risk management in the agricultural sector in Latin America, and facilitates knowledge exchanges including the development of a regional network to promote the adoption of Voluntary Guidelines of Tenure.

Description: In December 2021, FAO and the Universitat Politècnica de València formalized their collaboration through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding, with the aim of leveraging their collective expertise for a global impact. The objectives of this collaboration are focused on promoting institutional knowledge exchange and developing the capacities of experts and communities to enhance the sustainable management of agriculture, forest, fisheries, land and water resources within the context of climate and global change.
