19 de mayo de 2015, Milan – FAO acompañó a Caritas en su día inaugural en la Expo Milan 2015. Rolf Hackbart, Director Adjunto de la Oficina de Asociaciones, Promoción Institucional y Desarrollo de la Capacidad, representó a FAO y abogó por luchar junto a Caritas para erradicar el hambre. La FAO e IKEA Suecia, la cadena sueca de muebles y objetos para el hogar, resolvieron hoy colaborar en una iniciativa de certificación forestal encaminada a promover la gestión sostenible de las plantaciones forestales y empoderar a las comunidades de Vietnam que subsisten de los bosques.

The first capacity building programme designed with and for indigenous peoples on the Voluntary Guidelines on the Responsible Governance of Tenure of Land, Fisheries and Forests in the Context of National Food Security (VGGT) will start its activities next week. FAO’s programme will bring together 24 indigenous leaders and experts from Honduras, El Salvador, Costa Rica, Guatemala, Nicaragua and Panama, who will work together for one year. Representatives from different indigenous peoples (Aymara, Embera–Wounaan, Guaraní, Kichwa, K’iche, Macushi, Miskita, Náhuatl, Zapoteco) from Latin America shared during two days their knowledge about food security with FAO statisticians to develop new methods that could measure food insecurity in indigenous communities.

FAO and the John Cabot University agree on “Communicating to Inspire Change: Food Security and Sustainability” a summer short course in July 2015 designed to provide University students with a solid and broad background on food security and sustainability so that they may have the key informational foundations to develop methods and tools for “Communicating to Inspire Change.”   The course will be in English.
