31 October 2014, Rome - Since the approval of the FAO Strategies for Partnerships with Civil Society Organizations and the Private Sector in April 2013, FAO has formalized 54 agreements with Non-State Actors (NSA). The complete list of FAO partnerships with Non-State Actors, including their link to Strategic Objectives and initial progress in their implementation, can be found here.

“With a strong involvement from Technical Units and Decentralized Offices, we have moved forward with the implementation of the FAO Strategies. We now have concrete indicators of how these partnerships contribute to the Strategic Objectives and help eradicate hunger,” said Marcela Villarreal, Director of the Office for Partnerships, Advocacy and Capacity Development (OPC).

Non-State actors are considered key in the achievement of FAO’s Strategic Objectives. In addition to partnering with civil society organizations and the private sector, FAO also develops and implements partnerships with academia and research organizations, as well as producer organizations and cooperatives, recognizing their central role in the fulfilment of FAO’s mandate.
