2019 Annual Gathering of the Milan Urban Food Policy Pact

07/10/2019 - 09/10/2019
Montpellier, France

The Fifth Annual Gathering of the signatory cities of the Milan Urban Food Policy Pact (MUFPP) will take place from 7-9 October, organized by the city of Montpellier in collaboration with the MUFPP Secretariat.  The Milan Urban Food Policy Pact was signed on the 15 October 2015 in Milan by more than 100 cities and presented the day after to the UN secretary general Ban Ki-moon on the occasion of the World Food Day celebration. By signing the pact, mayors and local government representatives make a commitment to develop sustainable, inclusive, safe and diversified food systems that provide healthy and affordable food for everyone, in a context based on human rights, minimizing waste and protecting biodiversity while adapting to climate change and reducing its impacts. The pact encourages coordination across government agencies and sectors at the municipal and community levels, and endeavors to include urban food policy considerations as part of economic and environmental policies, programs and social initiatives.
