FAO and the United States of America (USA) have partnered closely over the past 75 years on efforts to end hunger and malnutrition around the world. The USA is the largest financial contributor to FAO’s budget — with almost USD 527 million through assessed and voluntary contributions in the 2018–2019 period — and a key partner collaborating with FAO across the food and agriculture sector, from global crop forecasting and food safety, to disaster assistance, economic sustainability of agriculture and resilience building.

Since 1945, Canada and FAO have worked together towards finding solutions to many of the most pressing problems of our time, and tested new ways of delivering support to those most in need. Through total contributions of CAD 71 million1 (USD 53.5 million) between 2018 and 2019, Canada has enabled FAO to reach vulnerable populations in crisis-affected areas, while contributing to rural transformation through investments in agricultural productivity and livelihood opportunities.

In recent years, New Zealand’s strategic support of various FAO normative and technical projects has proven its commitment towards food security and agricultural development. With the adoption of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, FAO’s mandate has been reinforced and scaled up to a depth and scope that calls for a greater commitment in the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals.
