On Tuesday, 28 November 2017, FAO held a Resource Partners consultative meeting on three fast-spreading animal and plant pests and diseases: Fall armyworm (FAW), Peste des petits ruminants (PPR – also known as sheep and goat plague), and banana fusarium wilt (FW) disease. The meeting assessed the impact of the rapid spread of the diseases, indicating efficient and sustainable means to prevent, manage and, in the case of PPR, eradicate them. The 2016 Annual Report presents results achieved by projects supported by the FAO Multipartner Programme Support Mechanism (FMM) in 2016. The FMM is an innovative funding mechanism for partners willing to contribute to FAO’s work through unearmarked or lightly earmarked funds. The FMM directly supports FAO’s Strategic Framework (2010-2019) and the realization of the organization’s Programme of Work and budget, and focus on results.
