Thursday, 23 July 2020 | 1pm - 3:30pm CET

Our food systems are not delivering to their potential, and must be transformed to provide affordable, nutritious and safe diets for the good of human and planetary health. The private sector is a key ally in the fight for this transformation given its position and role in the provision of food products. Exploring innovative ways of collaboration and engagement is key to improve nutrition and diets sustainably and at scale.

This webinar is the third in a series hosted by FAO and GAIN which brings together private sector stakeholders – from large multinationals to small and medium enterprises (SMEs), including farmers – as well as stakeholders from government, academia, and civil society, to discuss the practical and strategic engagements and on-going and potential partnerships in reshaping our food systems to provide healthy diets for human health as well as the planet health.

The key objectives of the roundtable is to discuss and identify how and what businesses can do to provide consumers with healthy diets, and how enabling policy environment can be created for effective implementation where right kinds of incentives are laid out for consumers to enjoy the healthy environment. The dialogue will have a particular focus on SMEs, given their important role in most low and medium-income countries, and the role they can in the transformation of food systems.

Discussions will be based on a series of three Discussion Papers – "Stepping-up – everyone around the table for better nutrition and healthy diets".
