About the Partnership

Composition of the Partnership

The Partnership’s composition and organizational structure consists of 4 principal elements:

  • The Participants comprising of all members who adhere to the Partnership’s goals and objectives and have signed the Partnership’s Agreement. Members of this group consist of private sector organizations, FAO member countries, academia, public and private standard setting bodies and non-governmental organizations (NGOs).
  • A Steering Committee acting as the executive body of the Partnership, will provide leadership and direction as well as oversee and monitor the implementation of the work programme. The composition of the Steering Committee reflects the various constituencies that make up the Partnership consisting representatives from the private sector, FAO member countries and NGOs. Additional members include representatives from other intergovernmental organizations, academia, and international and national standard setting organizations serving in an advisory role to the Steering Committee.
  • A Secretariat hosted by FAO supports the Partnership in terms of administration and operational implementation, and technical support in pursuit of the Partnership’s goals and objectives.
  • Technical Advisory Groups supporting the implementation of the project’s work programme through the provision of technical and scientific expertise.

The Partnership’s project document establishes the governance arrangements, the membership and roles underpinning this initiative.
