FAO and the University of Lisbon: partnering to improve food security and nutrition


On 2 November 2017 the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations and the University of Lisbon signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen collaboration on improving food security and nutrition.

On 2 November 2017 the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations and the University of Lisbon signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen collaboration on improving food security and nutrition in Portugal and in the Community of Portuguese Language Countries (CPLP).  The MoU was signed by the Head of FAO Information Office for Portugal and CPLP, Francisco Sarmento, and the Rector of the University of Lisbon, António Cruz Serra.

The outcomes of collaboration between FAO and the University of Lisbon aim to inform the CPLP Food and Nutrition Security Strategy (ESAN-CPLP) and support the development of national strategies in the fields of  agriculture, food security, and nutrition, in line with FAO Strategic Programs and Country Program Frameworks. The activities under the MoU will focus on knowledge dissemination, capacity building, development of technical studies and awareness raising of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
