Rome - FAO currently has more than seventy partnerships with academia and research institutions worldwide, which help the Organization to provide the next generation with the tools and knowledge needed to create a more sustainable future. A delegation of ten people led by the Minister of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries (MAEP) went to Mahitsy on April 23, 2020 to inspect the cultivated hybrid rice on a 40 hectare plot, which will be harvested at the end of April. The first sowing of Weichu 902-3 hybrid rice specie was carried out in December 2019. The seeds were produced by the Yuan Madagascar company and supplied by the South-South Cooperation (SSC) project launched in Madagascar since October 2019. Accra – The private sector and development partners are vital in mitigating the impacts of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) on food supply chains in Africa. FAO and AGRA bring partners together to share knowledge in fight against the global pandemic
Accra – With over 60 percent of the African continent’s population in rural areas and dependent on smallholder or family farming, the risk from the COVID-19 pandemic to food supply chains, market access and nutrition is high.
