Countries help turn Voluntary Guidelines on Tenure into action

In the first decade of this century, the developing world dealt with an unprecedented level of large-scale land acquisition by international speculators and global agribusinesses, mainly in Africa. Other, related issues included corruption in natural resource administration, conflicting claims over natural resources, and lack of recognition of customary tenure systems. Boston College Center for Corporate Citizenship leads capacity development course at FAO Headquarters

22 November 2013, Rome - In an effort to strengthen FAO’s engagement with the private sector, the Boston College Center for Corporate Citizenship (BCCCC) conducted a capacity development course at FAO headquarters this week. Over thirty FAO staff participated in the intensive five-day training, including private sector focal points from technical divisions and representatives from the Office for Partnerships, Advocacy and Capacity Development (OPC).

UN joins forces with Expo 2015 to end hunger

The United Nations and Expo 2015 signed an agreement today confirming the UN’s major support for Expo 2015, during which global attention will zero in on the challenge to eradicate hunger and poverty and on producing enough nutritious food for a world population expected to top 9 billion people by 2050. Expo 2015’s theme, “Feeding the Planet, Energy for Life” is at the heart of the UN’s founding principles to combat hunger and poverty. Expo will run in Milan for six months from May until the end of October 2015.

14 November 2013, Rome  - La FAO y el Club de Exportadores e Inversores Españoles colaborarán en la creación de capacidades y la formación de productores y distribuidores locales para apoyar la comercialización de productos agropecuarios en mercados internacionales.
