The Brazil Africa Institute (IBRAF) will hold, next Friday, May 29, the webinar “Youth Empowerment and the Promotion of Rural Communities Sustainability”. The dialogue will focus on topics such as ensuring access to tools for young people to lead the transformation of the region, and practices to promote sustainability in rural communities, especially the most vulnerable. The panel will be attended by representatives of the African Union; the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO); and the World Food Programme (WFP).

The COVID-19 pandemic made it clear to the world that many practices, especially regarding the models of food production and importation, need to be updated. Studies even fear an increase in the number of people facing a reality of food insecurity. In this way, the dialogue aims to share ideas, experiences, and opportunities, especially for the Brazilian and African contexts.

The event will count on the participation of Carlos Watson, FAO Senior Coordinator of the Office of South-South and Triangular Cooperation; Sarah Agbor, African Union Commissioner for Human Resources, Science and Technology; and Issa Sanogo, Director of the Regional Center for the World Food Program Against Hunger and Malnutrition in Côte d'Ivoire; The webinar will be moderated by Professor João Bosco Monte, President of the Brazil Africa Institute.

The dialogue will start at 11 am (GMT-3) and is open to the public. It will be broadcasted on the Brazil Africa Institute YouTube channel.
