La Asamblea General de Uruguay aprobó de forma únanime una moción por la que se crea el capítulo nacional del Frente Parlamentario contra el Hambre.    A diferencia de otros países, el nuevo Frente uruguayo será reconocido formalmente como una Comisión Especial de Derecho a la Alimentación, compuesta por 15 miembros, cinco Senadores y 10 Diputados de todos los partidos con representación parlamentaria.    El objetivo del Frente uruguayo será asesorar al Poder Legislativo sobre Derecho a la Alimentación y proponer medidas concretas a desarrollar en la materia, con enfoque de género. Parliamentarians working to safeguard food security and nutrition continue to meet virtually in a series of dialogues organized by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), with the latest meeting bringing together legislators from various English-speaking African countries. The dialogues, supported by the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation (AECID), help to keep food security and nutrition at the top of political agendas and offer parliamentarians a forum to exchange best practices and lessons learned in guaranteeing food security, nutrition and the right to food during the containment and recovery phases of the COVID-19 pandemic.

One year into the COVID-19 pandemic, parliamentarians from countries in the Near East, North Africa and Ethiopia gathered for a virtual dialogue on food security and nutrition in the time of COVID-19. The dialogue, the third in a series organized by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and supported by the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation (AECID), offered parliamentarians from the Arabic-speaking world a forum to share their experiences in helping their countries to guarantee food security, nutrition and the right to food during the containment and recovery phases of the pandemic.
