Private sector participation in policy dialogue on issues related to food and nutrition security at national and international level can contribute to the debate. It allows for private sector interests and technical expertise to be heard. This nurtures a sense of ownership that will enhance sustainability of policy adoption and implementation. FAO can play a role in encouraging and guiding such dialogue at the national and international levels. Examples of policy dialogue fora include the Private Sector Mechanism (PSM) at the Committee on World Food Security (CFS), Partnership on the environmental benchmarking of livestock supply chains and the World Banana Forum.
