Last November, FAO signed a USD 10.5 million grant agreement with the Gates Foundation aimed at strengthening countries’ capacity to collect agriculture and food security data, and monitor the investment-process-outcome cycle leading to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). With the aim to meet FAO’s Strategic Objective 1 to eradicate hunger and malnutrition, Germany’s Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture (BMEL) and FAO have implemented solutions to improve the nutritional impact of agriculture and food systems from community to the national and regional levels, within the framework of a Bilateral Trust Fund (BTF) set up in 2002. Donation of $150,000 aims to support countries of the global South
The Republic of the Sudan has donated $150,000 to support the work of the Committee on World Food Security (CFS), a unique international coordinating body for policy issues related to food and nutrition, hosted by FAO. The funds will help CFS strengthen the governance of food security and nutrition in countries of the global South. Following a call for assistance from FAO, a donation agreement was signed between Sudan and the UN Agency, which will administer the contributions through its multi-donor trust fund.
