Identification of HHPs

The goal of the identification step is to check the registered pesticides against the FAO/WHO criteria for HHPs. Any pesticide meeting one or more of these criteria is considered to be an HHP.

The criteria for identifying HHPs as presented below were defined in 2008 by the FAO/WHO Joint Meeting on Pesticide Management (JMPM).

Description and use

HHP_identification.xlsx

(version 20180305, 4.02 MB)

The spreadsheet tool can be used to document the HHP identification process. This can be done for individual pesticides, or for lists of registered pesticides.. Note that the user is responsible for looking up the pesticide properties and classifications from the relevant sources.

How to use:

  • Download the spreadsheet to your PC and open it.
  • Enter your products in either sheet depending on the number of Active Ingredients (A.I.) in the product: "One A.I.(entry)", "Two A.I.s (entry)" or "Three A.I.s (entry)"
  • Complete the required information for the different criteria, based on data from the dossier or online sources. The spreadsheet will calculate the WHO classification of the formulated product in case only LD50 values of the active ingredients are available.
  • When finished, check the summary pages ("One A.I (summary)" etc. to see which products are marked as HHP.

Notes:

  • This version of the spreadsheet can hold 5000 products with one A.I., 1000 with two A.I.s and  200 with three A.I.s.
  • File not found warning: if you experience a file not found warning while clicking the link (e.g. in Chrome) then download the file to your  PC first (right-click | Save link as ..) before opening it in MS Excel
