We are pleased to welcome you to the website on plant genetic resources for the Republic of Suriname. Plant Genetic Resources (PGR) are the mechanisms responsible for crop propagation, increased crop production and the productivity and sustainability in agriculture, horticulture and forestry. Subjects related to plant genetic resources are becoming increasingly important in: international agriculture, the environment, intellectual property and trade related aspects.
In the course of time plant genetic resources have developed into a fundamental topic of attention; not only because of their importance for conservation of these resources, but also because of the advantages that could derive from sustainable use of PGR.
This website presents a unique opportunity to be informed or to be kept abreast on aspects related to the challenges and opportunities on sustainable management and use of plant genetic resources; nationally and internationally.
We therefore invite you to periodically visit this website and contribute to its development by sending comments, news and suggestions to its curator.
