FAO, Philippines' Department of Agriculture reaffirm mutual cooperation and support to develop country's agriculture sector

In a virtual courtesy meeting on 29 March, new FAO Representative in the Philippines, Ms Kati Tanninen, and Agriculture Secretary William Dar, reinforced pledge to continue strong partnership to transform Philippine #agriculture to benefit all Filipinos, particularly smallholder farmers and fisherfolk.

Ms Tanninen also expressed FAO's commitment to continue supporting the DA in implementing its 'One DA' strategy, including adopting necessary changes in view of the "new normal".

Other points discussed included the updating of the Country Programming Framework (CPF), in which the DA will be participating; supporting youth in agriculture initiatives; and FAO and UN’s support to the country’s preparations and conduct of the upcoming Food Security Summit and the national dialogues in the run-up to the UN Food Systems Summit, among others.
