Science suggests that climate change has a significant impact on plant health, especially due to expansion of pest distribution and changes in pest epidemiology. Mitigation and adaptation efforts to tackle this impact will present a major challenge to national, regional and international plant protection organizations.

Thus, we are pleased to invite you to participate at the high-level launch event of the FAO  scientific review of the impact of climate change on plant pests: a global challenge to prevent and mitigate plant-pest risks in agriculture, forestry and ecosystems , which is to be held on  Tuesday, 1 June 2021 from 14:00 to 16:00   hours (CEST).

The main results and recommendations of the review will be presented at the event. They will provide scientific basis for IPPC community’s future actions to assess and manage the impact of climate change on plant pests and consequently on plant health.

The scientific review was commissioned by the International Steering Committee of the International Year of Plant Health 2020 (IYPH) and is considered one of the key legacies of the IYPH.

Interpretation services will be available for all official FAO languages.
