Collections in the Multilateral System

The Secretariat makes available through this website information on material included in the Multilateral System of Access and Benefit-sharing by Contracting Parties, the International Agriculture Research Centres of the Consultative Group on International Agricultural Research (CGIAR), other International Centres and natural and legal persons within the jurisdiction of Contracting Parties. National Institute of Agrobiological Sciences (NIAS)

The Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries of Japan has notified three inclusions of materials to the Secretary of the International Treaty up to almost 40,000 Annex 1 crop, grass and forages accessions maintained by the Genebank of the National Institute of Agrobiological Sciences (NIAS). The latest notification was received on 22 November 2016 informed about the inclusion of additional 8,307 plant genetic resources by the National Agriculture and Rood Research Organization (NARO) Genebank. The Croatian Centre for Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs on behalf of Croatia, notified the Secretary that the following plant genetic resources for food and agriculture listed in Annex I andmaintained in Croatia have been included in the Multilateral System: 1. The collections held by Croatian Centre for Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs, located in Osijekand Zagreb. 2. The collections held by University of Zagreb, Faculty of Agriculture, located in Zagreb. 3. The collection held by College of Agriculture, located in Krizevci. National Agriculture Research Institute (INRA)

The Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Forestry of France has notified the Secretary of the International Treaty of the inclusion in the Multilateral system of two French collections maintained by the National Agriculture Research Institute (INRA, in French). The first collection includes 531 accessions of forages located in Poitou-Charantes (Lusignan) while the second collection includes 91 accessions of potato located in Rennes (Ploudaniel). The names of the accessions, their summary description, and the names of the curators are listed in the attached notification. Rwanda Agriculture Board

The Rwanda Agriculture Board has notified the Secretary that the following plant genetic resources for food and agriculture listed in Annex 1 of the International Treaty are included in the Multilateral System: -The collections held by the Rwanda Agriculture Board (RAB) in the various agriculture research centres of the Board throughout Rwanda. The Plant Genetic Resources Centre (PGRC)

The Permanent Secretary of the Plant Genetic Resources Centre (PGRC) of Tanzania notified the Secretary of a list of PGRFA belonging to crops in theAnnex 1 of the International Treaty that are included in the Multilateral System of Access and Benefit-sharing of the Treaty. The material, detailed in the annex to the attached notification, includes accession sof sorghum, lablab beans, cucurbita maxima, yam, plectrathus andfinger millet. Additional information is stored in theSADC Plant Genetic Resources Centre.

National Gene Bank of Egypt

The Head of the National Gene Bank (NGB) of Egypt notified the Secretary of the International Treaty of 40 citrus accessions collected and characterized thanks to the support of a Benefit-sharing Project and that are included in the Multilateral System of the International Treaty. The names of the accessions are listed in the attached notification. Additional information will be made available on the website of the National Gene Bank.
