Material available in the Multilateral System

The Secretariat publishes on this page the information and notifications received on material available in the Multilateral System of Access and Benefit-sharing. The information has been received from Contracting Parties, the International Agriculture Research Centres of the Consultative Group on International Agricultural Research (CGIAR), other International Centres and natural and legal persons within the jurisdiction of Contracting Parties. A sample notification letter of material available in the Multilateral System can be downloaded from this page in four languages:

Uganda National Genebank

The National Focal Point of the International Treaty of Uganda has notified the Secretary of the International Treaty of seven hundred and sixty (760) accessions available  in the Multilateral system. These materials can be accessed from the Uganda National Genebank and they comprise:

  • Twenty three accessions of pearl millet
  • Sixty four accessions of sorghum 
  • Four hundred twenty nine accessions of finger millet
  • One hundred fifty one accessions of wild relatives of millets
  • Ninety three accessions of common beans

El INTA de Costa Rica ha enviado una notificación al Secretario del Tratado informando de las colecciones de material disponibles en el Sistema multilateral del Tratado.  Estas colecciones, que se encuentran en varias estaciones experimentales, incluyen materiales de arroz, camote, maíz, musa sp., ñame, papa, tomate y yuca.

The collections held by Croatian Centre for Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs, located in Osijekand Zagreb. 2. The collections held by University of Zagreb, Faculty of Agriculture, located in Zagreb. 3. The collection held by College of Agriculture, located in Krizevci. National Agriculture Research Institute (INRA)

The Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Forestry of France has notified the Secretary of the International Treaty of the inclusion in the Multilateral system of two French collections maintained by the National Agriculture Research Institute (INRA, in French). The first collection includes 531 accessions of forages located in Poitou-Charantes (Lusignan) while the second collection includes 91 accessions of potato located in Rennes (Ploudaniel). The names of the accessions, their summary description, and the names of the curators are listed in the attached notification. The notification refers to the collections held by The Agricultural Research Council (CRA), Italy, located in Rome. The Rwanda Agriculture Board has notified the Secretary that the following plant genetic resources for food and agriculture listed in Annex 1 of the International Treaty are included in the Multilateral System: -The collections held by the Rwanda Agriculture Board (RAB) in the various agriculture research centres of the Board throughout Rwanda. The Plant Genetic Resources Centre (PGRC)

The Permanent Secretary of the Plant Genetic Resources Centre (PGRC) of Tanzania notified the Secretary of a list of PGRFA belonging to crops in theAnnex 1 of the International Treaty that are included in the Multilateral System of Access and Benefit-sharing of the Treaty. The material, detailed in the annex to the attached notification, includes accession sof sorghum, lablab beans, cucurbita maxima, yam, plectrathus andfinger millet. Additional information is stored in theSADC Plant Genetic Resources Centre.
