International Treaty on Plant Genetic Resources for Food and Agriculture

New Treaty’s website launched

13/09/2016

12 September 2016.- As of today users visiting www.planttreaty.org will be redirected to the new website of the Secretariat of the International Treaty on Plant Genetic Resources for Food and Agriculture at http://www.fao.org/plant-treaty

The new website presents a higher level of integration with FAO’s corporate websites and services, featuring a brand new country profile section and improved access to information on projects funded by the Benefit-sharing Fund of the International Treaty.

All the documents produced by the Secretariat since 2007 have been placed in the FAO Corporate Document Repository-including 200 publications and more than 750 meeting documents- and now users will be able to make their searches using Google Custom Search box on the top-right box of the site.

While the new website keeps some of the main sections of the previous structure under “Areas of Work”, its content is now displayed in a more responsive way in a greater number of browsers and digital devices. Particular attention has also be paid to the structure and display of meetings and meeting documents.

More than 200 news and notifications will continue to be reachable at the click of a mouse directly from the homepage. The Secretariat of the International Treaty has also added a collection of 85 videos to the FAO YouTube Channel and will benefit from existing social media capacity through FAO’s communication channels.

As part of the migration process, the new site was made available to national focal points already on 20 July 2016 to facilitate comments and further improvements. The site has been developed in collaboration with the Office of Corporate Communication (OCC) and the Information Technology Division (CIO) of FAO.
