Policy Support and Governance

Towards sustainable bioeconomy guidelines

Project Highlights

Bioeconomycan be defined as the production and utilization of biological resources, to provide goods and services across all economic sectors. Its cross-cutting nature offers a unique opportunity to comprehensively address interconnected societal challenges such as food insecurity, natural resource scarcity, fossil-fuel dependence and climate change, while achieving sustainable development. As bioeconomy plays an increasingly important role in many countries and regions, it is crucial to establish guidelines that enable it to be developed in a sustainable way.
