Key points identified to assist Ghana’s PSMA implementation after launch of several initiatives

21/06/2018

The workshop on strengthening the implementation of the PSMA, complementary instruments and tools in Ghana, which took place in Accra from 4 to 8 June 2018, was a week of good cooperation, high levels of engagement and concentrated work on a National Strategy and Action Plan, facilitated by FAO and funded by the Norwegian Agency for Development Cooperation (Norad).

Stop Illegal Fishing also contributed to the workshop.

Representatives of all relevant departments and agencies came together to assess needs for the effective implementation and to recommend actions.

Based on the National Strategy and Action Plan, priority areas will be identified that require support and a work plan for technical assistance will be prepared under the FAO Global Capacity Development Programme in coordination with a capacity building project from Stop Illegal Fishing funded by the German Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ/GIZ).
