EPIDEMIOLOGICAL SITUATION FIRST/LAST OUTBREAK: PPR was first reported in 1997 and the disease is considered endemic in several provinces.
CONTROL ACTIVITIES: National Strategic Plan is in place in accordance with the PPR Global Eradication Programme. Within the framework of implementation of the World Bank-funded project (PRODEL) risk-based PPR vaccinations are taking since 2018.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Livestock accounts for 13 percent of the agriculture GDP and employs 30 percent of the rural population. Livestock systems are very much interlinked in the integrated farming systems in Cameroon.
