    The publication "Guidance on core indicators for agrifood systems – Measuring the private sector’s contribution to the Sustainable Development Goals" aims to provide practical information on how food and agriculture companies’ contribution to the SDGs can be measured in a consistent manner and in alignment with countries’ needs relating to monitoring the attainment of Agenda 2030. The indicators are further intended to serve as a tool to assist governments in:
    • improving private sector’s accountability mechanisms and assessing their contribution to SDG implementation, in particular on key transformative actions needed to achieve the SDGs;
    • setting standards and policies for corporate sustainability reporting, establishing national private sector reporting mechanisms, and enabling the reporting on SDG Indicator 12.6.1 (Number of companies publishing sustainability reports); and
    • potentially reusing the data reported by private entities to improve SDG monitoring at the national level.
    Available in a user-friendly format, the guidance begins with a quick guide that provides a brief overview of the indicators, the audience, scope, and data collection. It is followed by methodological guidance, which provides in-depth detail on the methodology behind each indicator and useful resources for capturing, measuring, and reporting on data for each indicator. Finally, in the annexes, there is a mapping of how the indicators align with various standards and guidance.

    The media plays a vital role in creating awareness of the challenges we face. As partners, they can take the lead in communicating to their audiences issues that are central to the work of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), such as food security and nutrition, agricultural productivity and livelihood resilience. Since 2012, FAO has established a total of fifteen media partnerships, with the goal of increasing visibility for areas of its mandate and the goal of Zero Hunger. These partnerships bolster the Organization’s ability to inform, explain, engage and mobilize resources to foster a global transition to sustainable food and agriculture systems that leave no one behind.

    Sustainable Development calls for strengthened partnerships in the implementation of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), including North–South, South–South, and triangular partnerships. The report South–South and Triangular Cooperation in FAO: Strengthening Partnerships to Achieve Sustainable Development Goals illustrates how South–South and triangular cooperation (SSTC) can be leveraged to enhance agricultural productivity and improve food security and nutrition in the developing world. It aims to deepen the understanding of the role and contribution of SSTC to agricultural development, food security, and nutrition. The report also offers practical lessons on how SSTC could be further strengthened and scaled-up in the implementation of the 2030 Agenda with the support of the United Nations system, multilateral organizations and other development partners.
