The world’s forests: Our path to restoration and recovery

18/03/2021

Healthy forests mean healthy people. Forests provide health benefits for everyone: fresh air, nutritious foods, clean water, and recreation space. In developed countries, up to 25 percent of all medicinal drugs are plant-based; in developing countries, the number is as high as 80 percent.

While forests remain under threat, forest restoration – at a small and large scale – is possible.

As we celebrate the International Day of Forests 2021, here’s a selection of recent and forthcoming materials on FAO’s work to support forest and ecosystem restoration.
