9BP01: Safeguarding of personnel, assets and operations in field locations and provision of security equipment to FAO Representations

Problem to be addressed:

524.     Field activities can only be carried out if the security of personnel, assets and operations is safeguarded.

Expected benefits:

      9BP02: Provision of security equipment to FAO decentralized offices other than the FAORs

      Problem to be addressed:

      526.     Field activities can only be carried out if the security of personnel, assets and operations is safeguarded.

      Expected benefits:

      527.     Improved security of staff working in the field. This entity focuses specifically on providing security equipment to non-FAOR decentralized offices.

      • Provision of security equipment to Regional/Sub-Regional/Liaison Offices and personnel

        9BP03: FAO participation in joint UN system undertakings to strengthen field security

        Problem to be addressed:

        528.     Cooperative work within the UN system provides for a more comprehensive and effective security for FAO personnel, assets and operations.

        Expected benefits:

        529.     Improved security of FAO and UN staff working in the field. Working cooperatively through the UN is the most efficient use of resources for providing security at all duty stations.

        • Improved security for field staff through FAO participation in centrally-managed programmes of the UN unified security management system
          • Improved security for field staff through FAO participation in locally-managed initiatives of the UN Unified Security Management system

            9BP04: FAO financial contribution to the UN unified security management system

            Problem to be addressed:

            530.     FAO staff in decentralized locations are increasingly facing threats to their personal safety. However, this a concern for all UN staff in decentralized locations. To best serve these UN staff, a Unified Security Management Systems has been established to which all UN organizations contribute and derive benefit.

            Expected benefits:

            531.     Greater security for FAO staff serving in decentralized locations.
