This section of the site provides resources that are aimed at empowering stakeholders to enhance the ways in which information and communication for development (ICD) approaches can add value to their organizations and livelihoods and help to bridge the rural digital divide.
- ICD Approaches: Programme stakeholders may not be fully aware of the ways in which they can harness ICD. Categories of ICD approaches are described, including links to case studies and evaluations that illustrate implementation of the approaches and analyses of the lessons learned. These are intended to give users a basis for designing and implementing their own interventions.
- ICD Capacity Building: Many rural communities and service providers lack the capacity to implement ICD approaches effectively. Tools for building these capacities are described, and links provided to the Information Management Resource Kit (IMARK) and other materials that offer learning and training resources.
- International ICD Communities of Practice: Links are provided to a range of online communities on topics related to bridging the rural digital divide and ICD. These links are particularly relevant for information and communication specialists, policy makers, planners and development practitioners, and are useful for sharing resources, new ideas, and examples of ‘good practice’, as well as for providing guidance and support.
