This study offers a comprehensive comparative analysis that focuses on the nature and allocation of ER rights, as well as the legal entitlements associated with REDD+ outcomes. To conduct this study, legislation from more than twenty countries across Africa, Asia and the Pacific, and Latin America was reviewed.

Integrating gender equality and social inclusion (GESI) in forest and landscape restoration projects and programmes helps to ensure access to a diversity of knowledge; promotes the efficiency and effectiveness of these efforts; and incentivizes both women and men to contribute to restoration.

It is informed by FAO’s extensive work and experience on halting deforestation and forest degradation and promoting responsible governance of tenure.
