The SDGs and community development in Europe and Central Asia

13 December, Rome- The FAO regional offices in Europe and Central Asia have been particularly active in strengthening the region’s engagement with the Sustianable Developemnt Goals (SDGs) and the 2030 Agenda in the second half of 2019, organizing a series of workshops, meeting and networks in Budapest. From 3 to 4 September technical officers and government representatives met to scale-up SDG implementation in the region, monitor progress and accelerate results through a series of workshops in Budapest. On 23 to 24 October FAO established an informal regional technical network on community development, to share different approaches and practical experiences in local rural development relevant for the region (read more here).

On 13-14 November, FAO hosted a regional workshop on migration to discuss the different issues countries face, as well as opportunities for FAO and other development partners to assist in addressing these moving forward.
