Decent rural employment involves creating work opportunities that respect core labour standards, provide a fair income, grant safe and healthy working conditions, allow workers to have a voice in the work place, and ensure equal opportunities and treatment for women and men. FAO supports countries in building lasting policy changes that foster decent employment in agriculture and rural areas. This includes promoting the application of international labour standards, particularly for eliminating child labour in agriculture, and building human capital by improving access to vocational and entrepreneurial training.
