Current and future woody biomass’ for energy
Monitoring use and understanding technology

Workshop

The objective of this Workshop is to improve national capacities to respond successfully to current and future Joint Wood Energy Enquiries (JWEE) from the countries around the Baltic Sea. The Workshop aims to present and discuss the main results of the JWEE from Baltic countries and countries close to the Baltic Sea. Results from other EU projects on wood energy will be presented as well.

The key discussions will involve: policy frameworks and analysis concerning the role of wood energy in the forest sector; cross-sectoral communication and cooperation on woody biomass with the energy and waste sectors; technical aspects for energy generation from woody biomass; and better knowledge of technical changes that affect the use pattern of woody biomass.

The future potential of a sustainable wood supply is a topical issue due to the constant development of wood supply and demand and the important consideration of sustainable use of forest resources.
