Statutory Bodies

The STATUTORY BODIES are bodies created under FAO’ Statutes, at the request of its Member States.

The Regional Commissions are one of these bodies, discussion forum in which participate all the countries of the region. In these commissions member States can exchange doubts, concepts and current issues with FAO technicians with respect to the matters those commissions deal with.

In Latin America and the Caribbean there are commissions dealing with fishing, livestock and forestry issues. These commissions meet every two years, benefit from part of FAO’s budget and have a Technical Secretary who is responsible for the functioning of such organism.
