SUBREGIONAL COORDINATOR'S OFFICE

The SRC is the senior representative of the Director-General in the subregion who represents FAO. SRC leads the Subregional Office (SRO) in the performance of its functions.

SRC Responsibilities

Representing the Organization, advocating its policy positions and communicating its messages

    The SRC, in the context of FAO's mandate, its corporate priorities, procedures and policies, ensures that subregional organizations, as well as FAO's member countries in the subregion, obtain assistance from FAO or other partners, in accordance with agreed assistance priorities. SRC leads the support to subregional organizations, commissions and bodies; contributes to the formulation of subregional strategies, policies and assistance priorities and ensures coherence between global, regional and subregional (including the underlying country) priorities. SRC works in the line of command of the Regional Representative (RR) and receive functional guidance from divisions at Headquarters.
Supporting food security, agriculture and rural development in the subregion
Strategy development, programming and aid coordination
Supporting exchange of knowledge and information
Field programme implementation/project operations
Assuring security of the SRO and its staff.

The Subregional Coordinator also performs the duties of the FAO Representative in Armenia, Georgia and Moldova.
